Monarch Landing Hosts “Our Favorite Things” Event, Putting Resident Voices at the Center

This comparison says it all

Joe Peluso, referring to Walt Disney World, often called the happiest place on earth, says his home at Monarch Landing senior living community in Naperville has become his own version of the place filled with joy and wonder.

That sentiment set the tone for “Our Favorite Things,” a marketing event that offered prospective residents something different. Rather than a traditional sales presentation, guests were invited to connect with current residents and team members, experience the lifestyle firsthand, and enjoy a sampling of the community’s culinary offerings.

A Taste of Community

The luncheon menu featured a variety of favorites, including egg rolls with soy ginger sauce, barbecue meatballs, shrimp cocktail, sliced beef tenderloin caprese, corn fritters, and dessert samplers with tiramisu. These are all items that appear on the community’s menus regularly along with “always available entrees” including bourbon salmon, filet mignon, BBQ chicken flatbread, mini shells carbonara, and more.

Resident Voices at the Center

The most memorable moments came as residents stepped forward to share their experiences.

Reflections on New Connections

Peluso, who moved to the community last fall, spoke about the welcoming atmosphere and the wide range of activities that helped him quickly feel at home. He noted that he has made dozens of friendships in a short time, describing the environment as genuinely friendly and engaging.

Daily Connections and Peace of Mind

Resident Mark Thomas highlighted the peace of mind that comes with the lifestyle, describing it as an investment in daily connection and well-being. He shared that he and his wife regularly dine with new people several nights each week, emphasizing the importance of socialization and the friendships they have built.

Long Term Fulfillment

Nancy and Dan Marion, residents of seven years, reflected on their decision to move to Monarch Landing as one of the best they have made together. Nancy shared that while the couple continues to travel the world, they miss the community when they are away. She also noted the comfort of knowing support is always nearby and encouraged others to plan ahead and embrace this stage of life fully.

Closing Reflection

“We are so fortunate to have residents participate in sharing their stories and personal experiences to let others know what life is all about at Monarch Landing. Their active, engaging presence offered a wealth of insight to our guests,” said Kristin Drees, sales director.

By centering resident voices and authentic experiences, “Our Favorite Things” offered a meaningful introduction to life at Monarch Landing, one defined by connection, choice, and a strong sense of community.
