Monarch Landing’s Rockin’ Readers Program with Naperville School

The Rockin’ Readers Program at Monarch Landing senior living community in Naperville brings generations together through the simple joy of reading. In this one-to-one volunteer read-aloud program, residents are paired with students in kindergarten through fourth grade from Cowlishaw Elementary School in Naperville. During their time together, the helping build literacy skills while creating meaningful connections. Residents value the opportunity to volunteer and give back to their community in a meaningful, personal and enjoyable way. With each shared story, confidence grows, friendships form, and both students and residents discover just how rewarding these moments can be. In the end, it is hard to say who benefits more from the experience, but it is clear that everyone leaves a little brighter.
