The Springs at Monarch Landing Earns More Prestigious State Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill.The Springs at Monarch Landing in Naperville has been named Best Long Term Care Center in Illinois by the Illinois Health Care Association (IHCA), which represents more than 450 long term care centers and programs statewide.

In addition, Roseline Tyson, a nurse at The Springs, was recognized as Nurse of the Year by the Illinois Long Term Care Nurses Association (LTCNA). IHCA and LTCNA are affiliated organizations.

These two honors add to a growing list of statewide and national recognitions earned by The Springs in recent years, underscoring its reputation for exceptional care and staff excellence.

A celebratory event was held October 20 at The Springs, attended by Jackie Webb of IHCA and Leslie Ruffing from Illinois State Senator Laura Ellman’s office. Ruffing described The Springs as “a valued asset to the Naperville community, providing strength and well-being through extraordinary care, compassion, respect, and tireless service.”

Elizabeth Vanderwal, Administrator of The Springs Health Center, said the honors reflect not only the quality of care but also the team’s shared values.

“These awards are a celebration of every single team member in every department,” Vanderwal said. “Their consistent dedication, compassion, and excellence have made this possible. We’re here to celebrate a wonderful achievement that took every person in this building. We need to keep doing this and, in fact, do it even better.”

She continued, “Our achievements over the past several years have become consistent and define what is in fact our culture of excellence and pride. We’ve developed the shared expectation that ‘outstanding’ is what we do, and the foundation on which we’ll continue to build.”

These latest accolades follow several significant recognitions over the past years:

  • The Springs has earned five-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in all categories. This rating is achieved by less than two percent of nursing homes nationwide.
  • Newsweek’s America’s Best Nursing Homes, ranking in 2025 and 2026.  Ranking #1 for 2026 in Illinois.
  • S. News & World Report Best Nursing Homes from 2019 through 2026.
  • Gold Level Award for Heartfelt Connections – A Memory Care Program by Life Care Services®, for the fourth consecutive year
  • 2025 Director of Nursing of the Year, awarded last year to Dulce Dangis by the LTCNA

Nurse of the Year

Tyson’s recognition as Nurse of the Year highlights the pervasive culture of excellence at The Springs. “Her energy and passion for nursing are unmatched,” said Vanderwal. “She truly loves what she does, and it shows in every interaction. She was born to do this work.”

Dulce Dangis, Director of Nursing, added, “Roseline loves being a nurse and loves The Springs. She’s always the first to volunteer and even comes in on her days off without being asked.”

When Tyson was recently named Employee of the Month, she celebrated by buying dinner for her entire team. “She said she couldn’t do this without them,” Vanderwal recalled. “That kind of thinking takes The Springs to its best. Skills can be taught, but heart cannot.”

A Team of Which to be Proud

“We are extremely proud of all of the recognition and honors earned over the past years,” said Vanderwal. “Each award reflects the achievements of our incredible team; their hard work, dedication, courage, and skill. The Springs is home to compassionate, caring, and talented professionals, and these awards are a testament to their excellence.”
